Case Study: Large South-Facing Solar & Battery Installation – Reading, Berkshire
Project Overview
On 26 April 2024, TEMS Solar completed a substantial residential solar and battery installation in Reading, Berkshire. The system was designed to maximise solar energy capture with a large south-facing array, providing both high generation capacity and efficient energy storage for the household.
System Design & Specifications
The installation features a total solar PV capacity of 6.96kWp, achieved using 16 JINKO 435W modules. The panels are positioned on a south-facing roof, optimised for maximum sunlight exposure throughout the day.
Energy management is handled by a Fox 6kW hybrid inverter, integrating the solar generation with a Fox ECS 5.8kWh battery. The battery stores excess energy for use during evenings or periods of low sunlight, allowing the household to increase self-consumption and reduce reliance on the grid.
Installation Highlights
This project’s standout feature is the large south-facing array, which maximises energy generation potential. By combining high-capacity panels with battery storage, TEMS Solar delivered a system that balances immediate consumption with stored energy for later use.
Results & Benefits
The completed installation provides the homeowner with:
High renewable energy generation thanks to south-facing orientation
Reduced electricity bills through increased self-consumption
Energy storage for evening or low-generation periods
A scalable, future-ready system
Conclusion
This installation demonstrates how a large, well-oriented solar array combined with battery storage can deliver strong energy and cost-saving benefits. TEMS Solar provided a tailored solution optimised for performance and efficiency.
