Case Study: Solar & Battery Installation – Reading, Berkshire
Project Overview
TEMS Solar completed a high-capacity residential solar and battery installation in Reading, Berkshire. The system was designed to maximise renewable energy generation from a favourable roof orientation, while incorporating enhanced battery storage to increase self-consumption and reduce reliance on grid electricity.
System Design & Specifications
The installation provides a total solar PV capacity of 8.7kWp using 20 JINKO 435W modules. The panels were installed on a southeast-facing roof, enabling strong energy generation from morning through to peak daytime hours.
A Fox 6kW hybrid inverter manages the system, seamlessly integrating solar production with battery storage. The system is paired with a Fox ECS 8.6kWh high-voltage battery, allowing greater storage of excess energy for use during the evening or periods of reduced solar output.
Installation Highlights
A key feature of this installation is the southeast-facing panel orientation, which provides excellent morning and daytime generation. Combined with the larger battery capacity, this ensures that more of the energy produced can be stored and used later, improving overall system efficiency.
Results & Benefits
The installation provides the homeowner with:
Strong solar generation from a southeast-facing roof
Increased self-consumption with enhanced battery storage
Reduced electricity bills and lower reliance on the grid
Efficient use of available roof space
Smart energy management with hybrid inverter technology
Conclusion
This project demonstrates how a well-oriented roof combined with increased battery capacity can significantly enhance solar performance. TEMS Solar delivered a tailored, high-performance solution designed to maximise efficiency, energy independence, and long-term cost savings.
