Case Study: Solar & Battery Installation – Reading, Berkshire
Project Overview
TEMS Solar completed a high-capacity residential solar and battery installation in Reading, Berkshire. The system was designed to deliver strong renewable energy generation alongside enhanced battery storage, while accommodating the requirements of a slate roof installation.
System Design & Specifications
The installation provides a total solar PV capacity of 8.7kWp using 20 JINKO 435W modules. The panel layout was carefully designed to maximise available roof space and provide strong generation capacity.
A Fox 6.0kW hybrid inverter manages the system, seamlessly integrating solar production with battery storage. The system is paired with a larger Fox 11.6kWh high-voltage battery, allowing more excess energy to be stored and used during the evening or periods of lower solar output, as well as charged from the grid during cheaper, off-peak periods for later use.
Installation Highlights
A key feature of this project is the installation onto a slate roof, which required a precise and careful fitting process to maintain the roof’s integrity and appearance. Combined with the larger battery capacity, the system delivers strong performance and improved energy flexibility.
Results & Benefits
The installation provides the homeowner with:
High-capacity solar energy generation
Increased self-consumption with enhanced battery storage
Reduced electricity bills and lower reliance on the grid
Secure and aesthetically considerate installation on a slate roof
Greater energy independence and flexibility
Conclusion
This project demonstrates how high-capacity solar and battery systems can be successfully integrated onto traditional roofing materials such as slate. TEMS Solar delivered a tailored solution designed to maximise efficiency, reliability, and long-term energy savings.
