Case Study: Solar & Battery Installation – Reading, Berkshire
Project Overview
TEMS Solar completed a residential solar and battery installation in Reading, Berkshire. The system was designed to deliver strong renewable energy generation combined with increased battery storage capacity, helping the homeowner maximise self-consumption and reduce reliance on grid electricity.
System Design & Specifications
The installation provides a total solar PV capacity of 6.09kWp using 14 JINKO 435W modules. The panel layout was optimised to ensure efficient use of available roof space and maximise energy generation for the given roof space and orientation.
A Fox 6kW hybrid inverter manages the system, seamlessly integrating solar production with battery storage. The system is paired with a larger Fox ECS 11.6kWh high-voltage battery, allowing more excess energy to be stored and used during the evening or periods of lower solar output.
Installation Highlights
A key feature of this installation is the increased battery capacity, which enhances the system’s ability to store and utilise solar energy. This setup provides greater flexibility in energy usage and improves overall efficiency. The large battery can also be charged during off-peak times on a cheaper tariff for use during peak demand, further reducing energy costs.
Results & Benefits
The installation provides the homeowner with:
Strong solar energy generation
Increased self-consumption with enhanced battery storage capacity
Reduced electricity bills and lower reliance on the grid
Optimised use of available roof space
Greater energy flexibility and independence
Conclusion
This project demonstrates the benefits of pairing a well-sized solar array with increased battery storage. TEMS Solar delivered a tailored solution designed to maximise efficiency, performance, and long-term energy savings.
