Case Study: Multi-Aspect Solar & Battery Installation – Southsea, Hampshire
Project Overview
TEMS Solar completed a residential solar and battery installation in Southsea, Hampshire. The system was designed to maximise renewable energy generation across a multi-aspect hipped roof, while incorporating battery storage to increase self-consumption and reduce reliance on grid electricity.
System Design & Specifications
The installation delivers a total solar PV capacity of 6.64kWp using 16 TRINA SOLAR 415W modules. The panels were strategically installed across the south and west-facing sections of the hipped roof, allowing the system to capture strong sunlight across different periods of the day while making efficient use of the available roof space.
A GivEnergy Hybrid HY 5.0kW inverter manages the system, integrating solar generation with battery storage. The system is paired with a GivEnergy 9.5kWh battery, allowing surplus solar energy generated during the day to be stored and used during the evening or periods of lower solar output.
Installation Highlights
A key feature of this project is the multi-aspect panel arrangement across the hipped roof. By utilising both south and west-facing roof sections, TEMS Solar extended the potential generation window while maximising the available installation area.
Results & Benefits
The installation provides the homeowner with:
Strong solar generation across south and west-facing roof aspects
Increased self-consumption through 9.5kWh battery storage
Reduced electricity bills and lower reliance on the grid
Optimised use of the hipped roof’s available space
Greater energy flexibility and independence
Conclusion
This project demonstrates how a carefully designed multi-aspect solar installation can maximise energy generation on a hipped roof. TEMS Solar delivered a tailored solution combining efficient solar technology and substantial battery storage to enhance performance, practicality, and long-term energy savings.
