Multi-Aspect Solar & Battery Installation – Whetstone, Middlesex
Project Overview
TEMS Solar completed a residential solar and battery installation in Whetstone, Middlesex. The system was designed to maximise renewable energy generation across a hipped roof, using southeast and southwest-facing aspects to capture sunlight at different times of the day.
System Design & Specifications
The installation delivers a total solar PV capacity of 7.47kWp using 18 TRINA SOLAR 415W modules. The panels were strategically distributed across the southeast and southwest-facing roof sections, making effective use of the available space and supporting solar generation from the morning into the afternoon.
A GivEnergy 5kW hybrid inverter manages the system, integrating solar generation with battery storage. The installation is paired with a GivEnergy 9.5kWh battery, allowing surplus electricity generated during daylight hours to be stored for use in the evening or when solar production is lower.
Installation Highlights
A key feature of this project is the bespoke panel arrangement across two faces of a hipped roof. The southeast and southwest orientations provide complementary generation profiles, while the battery allows the homeowner to store surplus energy for later use.
Results & Benefits
The installation provides the homeowner with:
Solar generation across southeast and southwest-facing roof aspects
Greater potential for self-consumption through 9.5kWh battery storage
Reduced reliance on grid electricity
Efficient use of the hipped roof’s available space
Greater flexibility in household energy management
Conclusion
This project demonstrates how a carefully planned multi-aspect solar installation can make effective use of a hipped roof. TEMS Solar delivered a tailored solution combining TRINA SOLAR panels, GivEnergy hybrid inverter technology, and battery storage to support renewable energy use and long-term household savings.
