Multi-Aspect Solar & Battery Installation – Swindon, Wiltshire

Project Overview
TEMS Solar completed a residential solar and battery installation in Swindon, Wiltshire. The system was designed to maximise renewable energy generation across an East-West facing roof, while incorporating battery storage to improve self-consumption and reduce reliance on grid electricity.

System Design & Specifications
The installation delivers a total solar PV capacity of 8.3kWp using 20 TRINA SOLAR 415W modules. The panels were strategically installed across East and West-facing roof sections, creating a balanced generation profile that captures sunlight from morning through to evening.

A GivEnergy Hybrid HY 5.0kW inverter manages the system, integrating solar generation with battery storage. The system is paired with a GivEnergy GivBat 9.5kWh battery, allowing surplus energy generated during daylight hours to be stored for use during the evening or periods of lower solar output.

Installation Highlights
A key feature of this project is the multi-facial east-west panel arrangement installed onto a slate roof. The layout makes efficient use of the available roof space while extending the daily solar generation window. Careful installation was also required to integrate the panels neatly with the slate roof.

Results & Benefits
The installation provides the homeowner with:

  • Extended solar generation from morning through to evening

  • Increased self-consumption through 9.5kWh battery storage

  • Reduced electricity bills and lower reliance on the grid

  • Optimised use of east and west-facing roof space

  • A practical and visually considered installation on a slate roof

Conclusion
This project demonstrates how an east-west solar configuration can maximise renewable energy generation while making effective use of a slate roof. TEMS Solar delivered a tailored solution combining high-capacity solar generation with substantial battery storage to enhance efficiency, energy independence, and long-term savings.
